Steeped in history, tradition, and legends, the Vietnamese capital is a fascinating destination. See Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Ngoc Son Temple on Sword Lake, and Quan Thanh Temple. This shore excursion from Hai Phong is led by an English-speaking guide.
What to Expect
You’ll be met at Hai Phong port for the transfer to Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital and the country’s second-largest city. The distance is approximately 100 kilometers.
Enjoy an overall view of the city, beginning either at Hang Bac (silver street) or Hang Mam (fish sauce street) in the Old Quarter, the historic heart of Hanoi. You’ll stop at a shrine in Hang Bac and your guide will tell you about the history of the Old Quarter.
See Ngoc Son Temple, located on a pretty islet on Hoan Kiem Lake. This Taoist temple is a popular spot for local people to relax and meditate. There is a preserved giant tortoise inside the temple. The tortoise appears as a hero in a legend about King Le in the 15th century.
Your tour continues at Quan Thanh Temple, an important cultural site of ancient Hanoi. It is located in a lovely area near West Lake.
After the tour you’ll return to the cruise port in Hai Phong.
