Dan the tour guide made it! He was funny and gave lots of extra information about Hanoi & it's history. First stop was for Banh mi - a bread roll/baguette filled with bbq chicken and vegetables - very tasty Then on to a local restaurant through a back alley - you would not know this place exists, but back there is a lovely home/restaurant serving spring rolls (fresh & fried) along with meatballs, noodles and other local food! All served in what feels like someone's dining room at home! After the 2 courses there it's off to the next venue for dessert. We had a lovely sticky rice & ice cream! After that it was of to the home of the famous Egg coffee! Very tasty. Soft drinks, vietnamese coffee and tea were also available, but egg coffee is worth a try! A great way to learn about the food, culture and go to places you didn't even know existed!

The tour is definitely worth it. We had Louise as our tour guide and we would never have looked for restaurants in such hidden places. You also learn a lot of new things about food in Vietnam. My only criticism is that we had a relatively long break at the first two stops. - Unfortunately we were hungry ...: D but otherwise it was a successful evening.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and the food was great. We had also done a cooking class earlier in the day so we told our guide what we had done and he told us what he had planned and there was almost no overlap in terms of food, so we got to try new things!
