Head to the Gulf of Tonkin for a tour of UNESCO-listed Halong Bay, with private round-trip transportation from Hanoi. Board a traditional Chinese junk for a half-day cruise past towering limestone karsts and uninhabited islets, and visit Thien Cung.
What to Expect
On this 10-hour excursion you’ll be picked up at your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and head out with your guide in a private car for the scenic drive to Halong Bay.
En route you’ll stop at the Hong Ngoc Humanity Center, a handicraft outlet developed to provide support to communities in the area, including people with disabilities. The handicrafts made at the center are available for purchase.
Arrive at the Tuan Chau wharf and board a traditional junk, your cruise boat for the tour. The crew will welcome you with a refreshing drink.
Cruise among thousands of limestone karst mountains. Enjoy a seafood lunch, served with traditional Vietnamese dishes at a private table. If you prefer, vegetarian options are available.
The cruise stops at a floating village, where you’ll board a bamboo boat to visit the local families and get a better understanding of life on Halong Bay. Alternatively you can take a kayak out to explore the limestone islets.
Back on the junk, you’ll cruise along the emerald waters, passing Dog Stone and the islet of Burning Incense. Continue to the Fighting Cock island, the symbol of Halong Bay. Visit Thien Cung cave, the most beautiful in Halong Bay, to see spectacular stalagmite and stalactite formations.
Enjoy an afternoon snack of fresh fruits as you head back to the wharf, where you’ll transfer to the vehicle for the drive back to Hanoi with your guide.
