Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau Valley
Benefit from pickup at your hotel in Hanoi, and then head for the lush green landscape of the Mai Chau Valley. Pass the town of Hoa Binh to be greeted by scenic views of the mountains and fertile rice paddies.
Enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by a local family on arrival, and then go for a bike ride with your guide. See farmers working the fields, locals weaving scarves, and other scenes from everyday life. Try some Rượu cần rice wine during dinner, and listen to traditional music by ethnic people who have inhabited the area for centuries. Spend the night in a typical stilt house homestay, with comfortable curtained-off sleeping areas in one long room.
Day 2: Mai Chau – Hanoi (B, L)
Wake for an early morning breakfast, and then go for a 2 to 4-hour trek through the surrounding villages. Face the challenge of a 1,000-step hike up to a cave, and then journey back to Hanoi after lunch.
