Full description
Join a guided tour of the eye-catching St. Michael's Church, emblematic of the Hamburg skyline with its impressive 132 meter tall bell tower, to see both the grand features and the hidden architectural intricacies that most miss. Explore the baroque church as you learn about the its interesting history and hear stories about the legendary crypt.  Enter the striking church, with room for 2,500 persons to be seated, with your guide who will proceed to show you architectural details, playful frescoes, the gigantic hands of Germany's largest tower clock and the country's largest organ.  Hear stories about the turbulent times St Michael's Church has been through. St. Michaelis was built as early as the middle of the 17th century. It was destroyed again and again by numerous wars and accidents and was subsequently rebuilt. Listen to other stories about the famous personalities who intimately connected to the building, such as the former chancellor Helmut Schmidt.
