Embark on a half-day scenic tour through the Salzkammergut to Hallstatt. See the town of Hallstatt on a guided tour and explore at your own pace after. Admire the Mullbach waterfall and the Bone House. Start the trip from Salzburg with a drive through the famous Salzkammergut en route to Hallstatt, known as the Pearl of the Salzkammergut. The route will take you through a number of charming villages, as you listen to an introduction to Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut. If you wish to do the Hallstatt Skywalk, the guide will collect the money for the ticket on the bus.  On arrival in Hallstatt, you might begin your visit with a mountain train ride up to the entrance of the world’s oldest salt mines (though the tour does not visit the mine itself), where you can admire the views down onto Hallstatt.  In Hallstatt you will have 2.5 hours to take in the sights. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the lake and marvel at how the houses above you seem to cling onto the mountainside. Pass by the Mullbach waterfall and visit the local museum. A must-see attraction is the Bone House behind the Catholic church, which will give you an interesting view into local family life (admission not included). You’ll then begin the return journey via Abtenau and Russbach to Gosau, where you’ll see the Gosau Lake and admire the views of the Dachtsein mountains.

In Hallstatt you can choose between taking the panorama funicular railway up the mountain and experience the magnificent World Heritage view 360 meters above town, on the Hallstatt sky walk and continuing on to the oldest salt mine in the world. Alternatively you can visit the 5 Fingers viewing platform – this is probably the most spectacular viewing platform in the Alps and reaches out like a hand over the 400m drop. But it is not just the viewing platform it is also the route there that offers plenty of special features. After your adventure in the mountains or the salt mine you will have enough time to discover all the hidden gems as well as the must-sees of Hallstatt, as well as to have lunch in one of the beautiful lake side restaurants (at own expense). On your way home from Hallstatt, the Gosausee with its backdrop of the glistening Dachstein glacier awaits for a short stop. Then, journey on along the Dachstein mountain range through the ski resort of Russbach to Golling and finally your guide will drop you off at your hotel or any other destination in the city of Salzburg.

The hike is approximately 30-45min long, and ends at the Rudolphsturm, an old building that was used as an observation point to detect enemies in former times. Located next to the building is the World Heritage Skywalk, a unique viewing platform hovering above the lake. We will offer you a photo break opportunity at Lake Wolfgang at the town of Sankt Gilgen. You are welcome to ask the driver for any other short stops along this route, so you can capture the picturesque scenery of Austrian lakes. Hallstatt Hallstatt is located directly on Hallstattersee. Hallstatt is known as one of the most photographed villages in Europe. During approx. 1,5 hour visit of Hallstatt, stroll your way along the Promenade into the colorful town center with numerous small shops, cafes and restaurants. In order to make your visit to Hallstatt more memorable, you have the opportunity to visit the Skydeck directly above the town as well as the Salt Mines for more scenic photo opportunities. In the late afternoon, drive back through the beautiful Austrian countryside to your accommodation in Vienna. Very convenient! Good guide, Max, and driver. Got lots of good info on the drive there, but not an overwhelming amount. Good amount of time, which I was worried about! Got to do the Skywalk and still had time to walk around. Worth a half day!
