We enjoyed this trip. It was as described and we felt it offered good value for money. There were good views of the monasteries. We took a packed lunch for our beach stop on Ammouliani. If we did the trip again we'd take a sun umbrella so we could have some easy access to shade on the beach (without the need to get a lounger).

So happy that we decided to join this trip, was great from beginning to end, very informative and friendly staff. The island of Ammouliani was beautiful, we bought some beautiful local jewellery and a few gifts, tasted the best vale waffle ever and the weather was fantastic.

Take part in a guided sightseeing cruise around Mount Athos Bay in Halkidiki to view the imposing western part of the Holy Mountain Athos in a Glassbottom vessel.

After getting the chance to see 6 out of 9 of the local monasteries, take some fantastic photos as your boat passes the gorgeous Drenia islets or Donkey Islands as the locals refer to them. 
Explore the majestic island of Ammouliani by stopping there for 1.5 hours where you'll have the opportunity for swimming or to have lunch.

The ship departs from the only port of Ouranoupolis where the Tower of Prosphorion is located. All travelers should embark the boat at 10.30 They should park their car in advance before reaching the port in one of the 2 available parking in Ouranoupolis and then they should reach the boat on feet (5 min walking from parkings) The ship with name Eirinikos Glassbottom is third on the right side

Know before you go

  • Women are not allowed on Mount Athos for religious reasons. Therefore, the cruise will get no closer than 500 meters to the island
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult
  •  Toilets available on board
  •  During the months of May and October, a stop is made in the island's central port of Ammouliani
  •  During the summer months the stop is at the famous Alikes lagoon, (we stop at the port of the beach, you can go swimming or you can enjoy your lunch at the lagoon's restaurant)

Everything went smoothly. We had fun being on this tour. Maybe organizers should pre-record some more interesting facts about surroundings. Information broadcasted through the ship was a little too basic.
