If there is a miller present, you will see the windmill in action. You can only visit the Adriaan under the supervision of one of the guides. Please contact us (minimum 48 hours) if you require special assistance for the guided tour or have time constraints. Consider the Private Group option. The tour begins by taking you through two floors with beautiful detailed models of different types of windmills. On the basis of these models, the guide will give you a clear explanation of the history and operation of windmills in the Netherlands. Then the tour goes to the top floor, the milling floor with the pair of special grinding millstones that mill the grain into flour. The floor below the milling floor is where the flour is collected and bagged. On this floor you can also go outside and walk around the gallery, which at 12 meters (40 feet) high gives you a beautiful view of the city of Haarlem and the river Spaarne. If you also want to see De Adriaan and Haarlem from a boat thru the canals and river Spaarne, several operators offer canal tours varying from 50-180 minutes. ## Important to Know Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your tour, otherwise the places may be offered to visitors at the counter.

The canal tour will begin at 18th century Windmill 'De Adriaan'. You will be greeted by our friendly and fun captain who will help you on board. While the 100% electric sloop glides from the windmill across the Spaarne river the Captain will tell you all about the pretty surroundings and ancient buildings. This doesn't mean the captain will be speaking non stop, there also is much time for interaction amongst your own company and just a relaxing vibe! You will start at the 18th century Windmill 'De Adriaan' in centre of Haarlem. With this ticket you will be able to go up into Mill Adriaan and get a full guided tour trough the windmill. The tour leads you to the top of the windmill, on the 'balcony' you will have a 360 degrees view of whole of Haarlem. The best viewpoint of the city! You have all the time you want to enjoy the view and take your pictures. Then the canal tour will start at the same location. Here you will board the beautiful Sloop and take a seat on the extremely comfortable pillows. While the 100% electric sloop glides from the windmill across the Spaarne river the Captain will tell you all about the pretty surroundings and ancient buildings. Much history is there to be told about the 900-year old city Haarlem is. The captain will explain all there is to know and you will be able to ask any questions you got. A real and personal experience. After 50 minutes you will end at the same location, windmill the Adriaan. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase.

Haarlem has many historic canals and waterways and what other better way to explore more of the city then by your own private boat. The boats are 100% electric, with a steering wheel and very comfortable pillows make sure you will enjoy the ride. Once you arrive to the dock there is always a host who will be explaining how the boats work. You will be shown you which ways to go and what the most pretty canals there are to take so you can make the most out of your trip.
