Explore Halong city with a knowledgeable guide and learn about this charming and mystical place on a visit to the Quang Ninh provincial museum. Enjoy a leisurely walk in Hoang Gia park and see the Tran Quoc Nghien pagoda at the foot of Bai Tho mountain.
What to Expect
Your guide will pick you up at your Halong city hotel and you’ll begin your half-day tour with a visit to Hoang Gia park, or royal park, which runs along Bai Chay beach, from the wharf to Halong’s night market.
Next on the itinerary is the Quang Ninh provincial museum, which features exhibits of the early cultures of the Ha Long, Ly, and Tran dynasties, the ethnic groups of Quang Ninh, regional mining activity, wars, and more. Over the last 40 years, the museum has preserved more than 10,000 artifacts. Note that the museum is closed on weekends.
The final stop on the tour is the Temple of Tran Quoc Nghien, situated in an elevated location at the foot of Bai Tho Mountain, looking out to the sea.
The temple is dedicated to Tran Quoc Nghien, a son of Tran Hung Dao, and an important general in the resistance against the Yuan-Mongol invaders. In memory of his great contributions to Halong, boat owners who frequently sail past Bai Tho Mountain built a temple to honor him.
