Full description

Embark on a day trip from Gullfoss, go on a snowmobile through Langjökull Glacier, and feel the adrenaline rush through your body. Admire the beautiful views of one of Iceland’s largest glaciers as you speed through the snowfields.

Meet your guide at the Gullfoss waterfall to start your snowmobile tour through the Langjökull Glacier, available for individuals and groups alike. Transfer to the base camp on the east side of the glacier to equip yourself with a snowmobile and see the landscape from a different perspective. Enjoy an adventurous ride; this is an ideal choice for those with transportation but want to top off a Golden Circle adventure with something special. Professional guides will take you into the Icelandic highlands to give you the most amazing views of the majestic glacier and its surroundings. Grab a monster truck at the Gullfoss Café before you transfer to the base camp. Travel through relatively new scenery compared to the rest of the world’s terrain. Look at a sparsely settled countryside with only a few signs of commercial activity. Arrive at the base camp, and receive the appropriate equipment, such as helmets, overalls, overshoes, gloves, and a hat. Get detailed instructions from the friendly, fun-loving guides, and learn how to operate the snowmobile before you ride off into the winter wonderland.

Enjoy a snowmobile trip for approximately an hour with stops, and the guides carefully review the route selection daily to maximize the experience. Stop and take pictures, catch your breath, and enjoy the silence and the scenery.

From beginning to end, the snowmobile tour is a 4 hour activity with 30 minute transit per direction, one hour snowmobiling, and additional time for gearing up. My partner and I had an absolute blast! Neither of us had been snowmobiling before and it was a great first experience. We went on an incredibly foggy day but the glacier and nearby mountains were stunningly beautiful. We didn't do a ton of research going into it but were surprised by how large the group was (~40 people) since we booked the Gulfoss pick-up version, so your experience will vary based on who you follow and where you are in the single file snowmobile line. The guides were attentive and made everyone feel very safe! If you're experienced and want to get a thrill, I would probably book the other version of this tour.

Second time to do this. First time (May 2022) there was a lot more snow at the base camp and with clear blue skies we got some amazing pictures. This time (26th Nov) we had to travel a bith further up but it was just as amazing. It was a total whiteout and with the sun breaking through it really felt like you were in a unique place. The guides are excellent and informative and the experience of going on a snow mobile is a must. Highly recommended. We have used Get Your Guide a few times now and they are very trustworthy and reliable.

We had an amazing day and we’re lucky enough to have our guide Ants from Mountineers. He was really informative and gave us a unique tour as there was only us on it. He took us to a great mushroom restaurant and gave us extra time at the secret lagoon. On the glacier we had great fun and the journey there and back was great too.
