Full description
You will be picked up from your hotel in downtown Guilin at about 08:30 and driven to Longsheng County. Take the country road to Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces to experience the distinct colors that change over the seasons. Known as Longji Rice Terraces in Chinese, they were first established in the 13th-Century and completed at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty of 1644-1911. The magnificent terraces scatter at an altitude of between 980 feet (300 meters) and 6,600 feet (1,100 meters) above sea level, and at a maximum gradient of 50 degrees, creating a tremendous scenic area of some 25 square miles (66 square kilometers). As the seasons change, the terraces take on a shifting colorful aspect, from the silver of spring, to a golden color in the fall. In the summer they are lush and green, while in the winter they resemble dragons playing in water. You will also visit the Yao village to experience the culture and life of the friendly villagers. Enjoy their beautiful songs, costumes, and delicious food as you explore the sublime landscape. Lunch is included in the price of the tour. You will then be transferred back to your hotel in Guilin for the end of your fascinating 8-hour adventure.

Very nice tour! The pickup was from our hostel, the guide Nicky was very nice, dynamic and took good care of us. The long hair women village is very touristy but the show was short and with music so it was ok. The food was good and varied. And finally the rice terraces were beautiful! We walked up and took the cable car to go down because we were afraid not to have enough time on the top. But actually if you don’t have any problem walking, it is ok to go and come back by walk only, there is enough time (50mn-1h to go up).

Change of scenery, Unusual

Despite 5 hours of return road, a real change of scenery in a sumptuous landscape, a winding road in the mountain but a magnificent spectacle on arrival with the tiered rice fields. Hearty, good and varied lunch, changing from the traditional lunch of tours to Beijing. Dancing show and presentation of the minority (longest women's hair in the world / guinness book record)

Very touristical, no information from guide

The tour went to a village where we had to watch a rather boring play in chinese with long-haired women. This may be interesting for chinese tourists, it wasn‘t for us. The lunch afterwards was ok. Afterwards we took the cable-car to a crowded platform with endless chinese people trying to sell souvenirs. Worst part was the guide. There was little to none information provided by her, we had to ask for every information about rice etc. All in all not worth the money, a taxi to the cable-car would have made more sense for us.
