Take an unforgettable cruise along the Li River between Guilin and Yangshuo and admire the limestone peaks that have inspired so many Chinese artists. Spend some time exploring Yangshuo and shopping or trying out the eateries on West Street.
What to Expect
Your full-day tour begins in Guilin with an hour’s drive to the pier where you’ll board the boat for your cruise on the picturesque Li River. The span from Guilin to Yangshuo is filled with spectacular scenery, including limestone peaks rising from the river’s banks. You’ll find that there’s something stunning to see at almost every bend in the river.
Some of the sights you’ll take in during the cruise include graceful bamboo groves tucked between limestone peaks, farmers tending rice paddies, and lumbering water buffaloes pulling carts or cooling off in the river. Fisherman can be seen gliding along the river on narrow bamboo rafts, fishing with their trained cormorants.
When you arrive in Yangshuo you can spend some time exploring the small town and taking in the sights of West Street. West Street is the oldest street in Yangshuo, dating back more than 1,400 years. Today you’ll find an array of craft shops, painting and calligraphy stores, restaurants, cafés, and Chinese Kung Fu academies. There’s a multitude of items on offer here, from embroidered silk cloth and wax-painted weaving to scrolls painted with scenes from the Li River.
