Guanajuato

Depart Mexico City in the morning and take in the views of the countryside en route to the colonial city of San Miguel de Allende. Upon arrival, join a 1.5-hour guided tour to see attractions such as the parish church of San Miguel Arcángel and the contemporary art museum of the Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery. The callejoneadas are a tradition that emerged in Guanajuato in the middle of the 20th century, inspired by the old Spanish estudiantinas. These musical groups, composed mainly of university students, roam the alleys and squares of the city singing popular songs while recounting local legends and anecdotes. The tradition was adapted to Guanajuato's colonial setting, where the narrow alleys and architectural landscape provide an ideal environment for the activity.
