What to Expect
Discover 2 of Mexico’s colonial villages on a half-day sightseeing tour from Guadalajara, and admire the handcrafted goods of Tlaquepaque and Tonala.

Following a pick-up from your hotel, transfer to Tlaquepaque by air-conditioned minivan. Located 4 miles (7 kilometers) from downtown Guadalajara, the small town is known for its ceramics, woodcarvings and leather work. Stroll down cobblestone streets to find craft shops in former colonial mansions. Watch artisans at work in craft factories, and listen to a mariachi band in the main plaza. Then, enjoy a traditional lunch at your own expense.

Next, transfer to Tonala, also known for its handcrafted goods. On certain days of the week, a large market takes over the main streets, attracting people from all over the area. Your guide will give a brief explanation of the region’s history, before taking you to a few of the workshops and factories. Find a wide variety of ceramics, hand-blown glass, wood figurines, wrought iron, jewelry and furniture.

Then, transfer back to Guadalajara, a short 8-mile (13-kilometer) journey before the end of the tour services.
