Full description
Dive into the fascinating world of the Mexican molcajete on this guided visit to an artisan workshop. A molcajete is a pre-Hispanic culinary utensil commonly used in Mexican kitchens. It has become popular worldwide for its unique shapes and for its use in the preparation of the best Mexican salsas.

The molcajete is made from volcanic basalt, which is extracted directly from the hills by the same craftsmen who make it. On this tour, you will have the opportunity to hike to the mine and see how the basalt is extracted before heading to the workshop, where you will learn how to carve your own molcajete. By participating in this activity, you are directly supporting a local business run by two local craftswomen.

Finish your tour with a visit to the picturesque Cajititlán lake and samples of local food before heading back to Guadalajara.
