What People Are Saying About Grand Canal

It was short but relaxing ride during the bustle of touring

The ride was fun and relaxing amid the noise and bustle of the day. Six people could ride but only two nice seats. We were lucky to get the nice seats so ride was enjoyable but if you were the one stuck with the end seats, you would sit separate from the other person you are with and it would not have been a good ride.

Excellent way to ensure a good price Gondola experience.

You cannot visit Venice and not ride on a Gondola. Everyone will tell you to avoid them as they are far too expensive but this is an excellent way to enjoy a shared ride at a reasonable cost. Would book again !!!

Better to share than pay €80 for a boat for yours self

Well worth sharing, can have better fun and a good laugh if with the right people

A good experience to see what gondola travel feels like

Prepare for a shared gondola that will seat 6 tourists. You do not choose your seat - heavier passengers tend to be placed on the 'romantic" rear seats & others seated on cushion seats or a chair. Went Sept 15 for ride at 4pm & booked it via mobile internet only 2 hrs earlier! We found gondola station beforehand; Venice has many gondola bases that all do different routes. You wait for agency guide to arrive to check you in. The stationmaster does not deal with vouchers. As gondola rides are the busiest tourist attraction in Venice, be prepared for no romance or gondolier attention - this is just a chance to ride in a gondola on a short route of the canals & then be taken onto the Grand Canal for a short while before heading back to base. The trip advises 35 mins but its about 25mins all in. The gondoliers are v occupied shouting to one another en route. It was fine to see what it's like. Note: The set price at any station for private hire is 80€ per gondola daytime; 100€ at night.

Not 8.5 hours day, was 4.5 hours v.i.p. Tour.!!!

Morning v.i.p. tour started at 9am till 10.30am which was only 1.5 hours, then left on our own for 4 hours, wandering around the doges palace, which seemed strange because all other tour guides stayed with their groups all the way to the end of the palace, prison, and through the bridge of sighs explaining all the rooms to them, this part of the tour was disappointing because to know about the palace we had try and tag onto other groups to try and listen to them, which considering the price of the supposedly 8.5 hours V.I.P. Tour that we paid for, shouldn't have been the case. However the afternoon V.I.P. Tour started at 2.30pm till 5.30pm and our tour guide "Mosem" made the afternoon tour really special, informative, and exciting. He went into the tour in great depth, explained himself eloquently and passionately, also answered all questions put to him. Mosem made the afternoon V.I.P. Tour extremely special and stayed with us for the whole 3 hours.
