The neighborhood of Albayzin, declared a World Heritage Site in 1984, was the origin of the current city of Granada, still retaining all the magic of its Arabic past. Narrow streets and white houses built at random, the famous Cármenes of Granada. The Sacromonte, located in the Valley of Valparaiso, is a picturesque and idyllic place on the outskirts of the urban center of Granada. It is a traditional suburb of the Granadian gypsies from India, who arrived in Spain in the 15th century. Portrayed with great mastery by the poet Federico García Lorca in his book Romancero Gitano, the gypsies dance the traditional and unique Grenadine Zambras inside their caves. A very interesting walk with lots of opportunities for photographs of the Alhambra. Our guide Elena was lovely and friendly and very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information about the history of the area along with several legends! She also gave us a recommendation for restaurants for dinner and we had an excellent meal! It was very hot (August) and we managed the many steps uphill but this may be a problem for some people.

Juanita was absolutely incredible! So informative and passionate about the history of this beautiful city. She made the tour so much fun! Definitely a great tour to start your visit in Granada.
