Full description
Discover some of the best views of the Sierra Nevada mountains surrounding Granada, and enjoy breathtaking panoramas of the old city from secret viewpoints. On the tour, drive along trails that date back over a thousand years, from the time of the Visigods and the Arabs. Following pickup from Granada city center, travel by 4WD vehicle towards the towering peaks of the nearby mountains north of the city. They soar to altitudes of more than 6,700 feet (2,000 meters), and remain snow-capped for much of the year. Explore the north face of the Sierra Nevada to see the highest peaks on the Iberian Peninsula, climbing to heights of more than 3,000 meters. Marvel at the amazing landscape, before driving to Sierra de Huétor Natural Park. The mountains here are lower, and were used by the Moors to draw spring water for the Albaicín, now part of Granada. See some old fortifications from the days of the Spanish Civil War, and enjoy incredible views of Granada and the Sierra Nevada. Finally, visit a panoramic restaurant in Sierra Nevada where you'll enjoy a drink, as well as any snacks, sandwiches, or meals you might want.

Our guide Jaime was a fountain of knowledge in respect of the routes, flora and fauna! He stopped the vehicle whenever we wanted a photo opportunity and was a very friendly, funny guy. We had such a good day in his company and would highly recommend to other travellers who haven’t been into the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains.

This was the highlight of our trip to Granada. Jaime is an excellent guide who has as a great deal of knowledge about the Sierra Nevada. He knows the all about the history, geography, local plants and wildlife. The off-road driving was great fun and a little hair-raising in places. Highly recommend the tour.

So pleased we decided to do this trip during our stay in Granada, on my wife's birthday. Our guide/driver Jamie was attentive and knowledgeable which helped make this such a great experience. We were a group of 6, all friends from England. Jamie's english was excellent and his enthusiasm for the rugged countryside he took us through, infectious. We loved the regular stops to take the air and examine flora and fauna, also the stop for coffee and again for lunch high in the mountains. Jamie's local knowledge and expertise was invaluable, we definitely would not have had the same experience in a hire car. This is not a spectacular tour/safari so don't expect to be wowed by exotic animals or snowdrifts. Instead it is gentle, magical and very different to anything you will do or see in Granada itself. Highly recommended. Thank you Jamie.
