Full description

This hiking route through the Cahorros de Monachil is one of the most beautiful and easiest to practice a few kilometers from the city of Granada.

We will meet at the established time in the Plaza del Professor Fontboté. Once the introductions have been made, we will get into the van and leave Granada behind to head for the Sierra Nevada National Park, where we will begin the activity, it is a 20-minute trip.

This 6.5-kilometer hiking trail is perfect for most people as it does not require much physical ability.

Los Cahorros is a highly appreciated route among hikers, who have found a natural paradise in this area. In most of the towns of the Sierra Nevada National Park, some hiking experience is required.

Monachil is one of the routes that, due to its great beauty and easy trail, is ideal for doing it with the family, which has earned it a prominent place.

It is a path where hanging bridges are crossed and little by little you discover what this special route hides, as well as its incredible views, waterfalls, and tunnels. This path will take you through some of the most spectacular landscapes in Andalusia.

Important information: To follow this path skill and agility are necessary since there are narrow sections and places where we have to walk crouched.

It is recommended that you come with a backpack to transport your objects and your water since during the walk it is essential to have your hands free.

In the summer months: July and August, the activity will start early at 8:30 am. due to the heat and for our safety.

We loved this hike and highly recommend it. Our guides were two Brazilian men and they were lovely and took lots of photos of each of the couples in our group (we had really nice people in our group.) They are very knowledgable and were funny too. The hike is varied (mostly water at the beginning) and beautiful. They gave us hiking sticks which were useful. You need to be at least average fitness to do this tour, wear comfortable shoes (good trainers are fine, they don’t need to be waterproof - just watch your steps). Do make sure you carry water. I advise you take a small hiking backpack with a water bladder, not a draw string backpack. There is some ‘crawling’, some climbing over and holding onto handles, thin ledges, and some steep parts. The pace was good. You need to do lots of leg stretches afterwards, or your calves will ache, if you’re not used to 6K hikes. The price was basically a bargain. I would love to do this tour again. Thanks very much to our great guides!

We chose to do this activity on a four day trip to Granada. Because we did it in August we went early morning. Meeting at 8.30am. It was nice to get out of the city and to have a hike through a canyon and up a mountain. The walk was not too strenuous and was taken at a relaxed pace. The guide Julio was very accommodating with his time and guidance. The walk is well signposted. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it!

My teenage sons and I had a fantastic gorgeous hike with Julio. He took us first along a gorgeous river with waterfalls and hanging bridges, and then we hiked up a bit to look down and around at a rocky canyon. I'm 57 and in okay shape, one bad knee, there were definitely some moments there on the rock ledge along the river where I needed to go slow and watch my step. But it felt adventurous and fun to my kids (who don't normally like to hike) and definitely doable for me and it was amazing to be in such natural beauty, away from the crowds, so close to the city.
