Full description

Learn about the history of Granada on this 3-hour guided tour of the Alhambra and Generalife summer palace. An informative guide will lead you around the vast complex, dating back more than 600 years. Marvel at a magnificent mix of Islamic art and culture. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, the Alhambra was a courtly city where the sultans of the Nasrid Dynasty lived. In addition to the ornate palaces of the sultans, your guide will take you the military fortress for rewarding views of Granada and the surrounding mountains.

Then walk over to the Generalife. Built as a place of leisure for the Moorish Kings of Granada in the 14th century, its beautiful gardens are abundant with diverse flora and stunning water features. One writer poetically described it as the "water that cries."

The tour started on time and was very interesting. Unfortunately, the booked "small group" consisted of 12 participants. There were TOO MANY people and therefore the quality was limited. Standing in the same place with so many people at the same time is almost impossible. Asking questions was almost impossible. In addition, the visited premises were often overcrowded (with other visitors and groups). The tour, including all breaks, was over after about 2:40 and therefore shorter (than hoped). Surely there would have been much more to tell. But the size of the group visibly demotivated the guide - who speaks excellent German. I don't think he enjoyed it much. Summary: instructive visit. Unfortunately too many participants

Alhambra & Nasrid Palaces are amazing. We did a private tour with Mercedes who was Cleary an expert on the history of the region and the buildings. She provided excellent context was able to answer all of our questions and made sure that we saw all of the significant features and elements of the site. A truly incredible and memorable experience.
