Full description
Head to the Bandama volcano, the first stop on this 8-hour tour. See the largest crater of an extinct volcano on the island and enjoy views of the east coast, mountains and Las Palmas. Continue to Santa Brígida, admire its historical center and grab a coffee at a traditional coffee shop. Continue up to Pico de las Nieves, the island’s highest point. Take in views that often include the neighboring island of Tenerife. Visit San Bartolomé, a mountain village with an ethnographic museum that you can visit free of charge. Stop for lunch at a traditional taverna in the village of Fataga (additional cost). Afterward, head to the Maspalomas sand dunes and enjoy 45 minutes of free time before returning back to Las Palmas.

Know before you go

  • Be sure to bring warm clothing and an umbrella or raincoat in the winter months
  • There are many twisting roads in the mountains. If you suffer road sickness be sure to bring your medication
  • Anyone interested in joining the tour from the southern resorts such as Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas or San Agustín can easily take public bus 30 to Las Palmas and at the end of the tour remain in the south
  • If you are coming from a different place other than Las Palmas, it is 100% necessary to contact the provider by email or WhatsApp straight after you make your reservation to confirm the bus time and pick-up point in Las Palmas
  • In case of poor visibility on Pico de las Nieves due to the fog, other view points would be visited on the way to the south of the island, where the weather is usually better

I went on a day tour of the highlights of Gran Canaria with Pavel as a guide. He is an excellent guide; super organized, friendly, has an eye for detail, tells interesting facts, provides personal attention and interaction with the group. My expectations have been exceeded. Highly recommended and worth repeating!!

The GPS directions are wrong and take us to the wrong meeting point. I missed my bus because I walked around for at least 15 minutes without finding the place. Fortunately the guide picked me up using a taxi and I was able to participate. Our guide, Pavel, was very kind and explained well. He brought us local specialties to taste. The tour is very pleasant and the views magnificent.

I can say without exaggeration that our expectations were exceeded in every respect. The tour was 100% good value for money. Very diverse, interesting and informative. Pavel was an exceptional guide. He provided us with interesting facts, some trivia, historical points, funny stories and even brought us some local snacks. He kept us enganged all the time (good distraction from the many curvy roads) and took care of our requests/wishes (for lunch etc.) like a good host. This tour made our short stay in Gran Canaria worthwhile!
