Gozo is the rural sister island of urban Malta. With tranquil bays and postcard-perfect views from restaurant terraces, Gozo is an ideal relaxation destination, but it's also rich with history and great for sightseeing! Here are a few of its delights.
This tiny village has been inhabited since as early as 5000 BC. It's now a haven for artists and provides some of Gozo's most picturesque landscapes and hiking trails.
This historic village is where the Knights of Malta surveyed the passing of ships between islands. You can see right across the whole archipelago!
The sea here is shallow and gentle, with the red sand surrounded by grassy cliffs. Ramla Bay is one of Gozo's best beaches, and can also be seen from the Calypso Cave in Xagħra.
Crowning a hill at the island's center, Victoria – or Rabat – is Gozo's capital. Head to its Citadel to discover an old town of labyrinthine streets and historic buildings.
Dating back to 3000 BC, Gozo's stone circle is older than Stonehenge. A chambered tomb was also discovered at the site, and predates the circles by roughly a millenium!
Gozo is Malta's northwesternmost major island, just south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. Malta is actually made up of three main islands – Malta (the largest), Gozo, and Comino (the smallest) – and several smaller, uninhabited ones.
Not directly. You will need to book your flights to Malta International Airport in Luqa, on the main island (Malta itself). From there, allow about an hour to reach Cirkewwa Harbor, where you'll be able to board one of the regular ferries to the island of Gozo.

What people are saying about Gozo
The tour was good and well organised. Comfortable boat but P.A system was not brilliant so missed a lot of the commentary. The stop to swim was beautiful and everyone took advantage of this , in beautiful clear blue water. Comino was a bit disappointing as over crowded. Deckchairs and an umbrella cost 15 euro. The food vans although convenient were didn't compliment the beautiful location . Gozo trip was good. We visited Xlendi. The beach here was tiny but nice restaurants and you can swim in the sea via small ladders from the waters edge. . All in all a decent day out at a very reasonable price.
The hornblower tour is something different! It's a small boat with room for sunbathing and with a glide to go in the water. The other boats you see are huge boats where they squeeze as many people as possible together... The crew is lovely and friendly! Also the personal touch with our driver on Gozo, Edward, was so nice. It made our day even better. By far the best experience of our holiday!
Picked this tour as they were offering the side range of sites that I wanted to see and indeed all expectations were met - thanks to our wonderful driver Jonathan to have balanced our cultural wants to see with the beautiful scenery of Gozo. Full on day but what a day ! And if I have the opportunity it was just appetizers to come back and see more and stay on the islands to do more
The tour was superb value for money in the breadth of experiences and options it offered. A true taste of Gozo. Our guide Louis was top-notch. Only criticism was lunch which was very bland, and only one loo available for a packed restaurant. Also the pick up on return to Malta was delayed.
Only challenge was the 6.00 bus at Ramla which was too full for us to board - maybe worth considering swapping the 6.25 bus as it seems significantly bigger Or make it clear to all that the only ferry that was leaving around that time meant catching the 6.25 is not a problem
