Immerse yourself in the history of Crete and visit the most famous archeological site of the famous Greek island. The Minoan palace of Knossos, which for the first time in 2000 v. Chr was built. And residence of the legendary King Minos, had an estimated 1,300-1,400 rooms and was excavated in 1900 by Sir Arthur Evans and partially reconstructed.
Then head on a little journey into the recent history and discover the old city of Heraklion with the famous Lion Fountain, the Loggia and the Mark's Basilica. Immerse yourself in the very special ambience, you wander through the narrow streets, visit the market and browse through the local shops or visit the Venetian harbor with its fortress. Pedestrian streets, small parks, sidewalk cafes and again old historic buildings and fountains from Venetian and Turkish time give a varied and wonderfully colorful image.
