What to Expect
Explore the legendary Somerset town of Glastonbury on a full-day walking tour of all its sights, and learn why the town has attracted New Age travelers for years.
You will start on Wearyall Hill, where the story began 2,000 years ago with the arrival of Joseph of Arimathea. From the hill you can see the complete isle of the fabled Avalon. Pop into the Hidden Chapel of Glastonbury at the church of St. Margaret's, originally built as a hospital and later serving as almshouses for the poor.
Go to the ruins of the Abbey, where your guide will tell you stories associated with the building, once the focal point of the Medieval settlement. Discover the last resting place of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere, and head to St. John’s church to meet characters from history in the beautiful stained-glass windows. You will also admire some secret artifacts not known to many.
After a lunch break, visit the White Springs (closed Wednesdays and Thursdays) set within the base of the Tor. A place of pilgrimage for centuries, learn about the red and white spring waters. Go to the Chalice Well gardens, where the healing water is omnipresent.
End with a walk up Glastonbury Tor to investigate some of the mysterious sites of the Tor's banks.
