Full description

Embark on a guided bus tour of Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, and Stirling Castle from Glasgow. Take in the views of the lush Scottish countryside and learn about William Wallace and Rob Roy from your driver.

After leaving Glasgow, stop at the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond, one of the prettiest and largest lochs in the whole of Scotland. Take a cruise, enjoying spectacular views of the loch’s many islands and the surrounding mountains.

Alternatively, take a stroll through the picturesque loch-side conservation village of Luss, with its quaint houses, cafes, and stunning views across the loch’s western shoreline. Eat lunch in the village of Aberfoyle, nestled in the heart of Trossachs National Park. Continue through the Trossachs, Scotland’s first national park, known as ‘the Highlands in miniature’ for its abundance of lochs, mountains, and forests, and homeland of the legendary outlaw, Rob Roy MacGregor. Your final stop is Stirling Castle, which sits high on volcanic rock and offers wonderful views of the surrounding landscape. Have time to visit the castle and learn of the exploits of key historic figures including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, and Mary Queen of Scots.

After your visit to Stirling Castle, make your way back to Glasgow.

Simply a wonderful trip all around...highly recommended. Just as a note to others planning this excursion: The stop for lunch is very short, with no time to actually explore the town. The gift shop where we got lunch had mainly pre-packaged sandwiches. Also, we did not realize the boat tour was extra, but that worked out OK as we were able to pay for it as we boarded the bus. We also did not realize the castle was a separate admission. All these glitches aside, we had a great time and would highly recommend taking the boat trip and exploring the castle.

This was a great tour and completed in about 8.5 hrs . Our tour guide Charlie was knowledgable and entertaining. Made for an enjoyable day. The meeting and drop off location was easy for us to find. There were 15 of us in total, the perfect size group. Overall I would recommend the tour.

John was very engaging. His brief synopsis about Irish history made the places we visited much more meaningful. He made the extra effort to stop at several places not on the itinerary- the Doune Castle shown in Outlander and those adorable “highland hairy coos”. Loved the Irish background music on the trip! He was so accommodating to all of us. Can’t say enough good things about this memorable tour with John!
