From Barcelona: Personalized Salvador Dalí Costa Brava Tour

2. From Barcelona: Personalized Salvador Dalí Costa Brava Tour

You’ll be picked up by private transport to begin this 10-hour personalized tour through the idyllic landscapes of Costa Brava. Experience the sites important in the life of Salvador Dalí, one of the world’s most important Surrealist painters. Head first to Figueres, a small town near the border with France and one of the points that make up the so-called Dalí Triangle.  Salvador Dalí was born in Figueres and spent his childhood here. Get to know the streets and places that marked his early years as well as some of the places he frequented as an adult. Next, you’ll visit the Dali Museum, called the largest surrealistic object in the world. Designed by the artist himself on the ruins of an old municipal theater, the Museum takes you into the painter's mind via a collection of the strangest artifacts you can imagine. Follow the footsteps of the artist to Cadaqués, one of the hidden gems of the Costa Brava. The easternmost of the villages on the Iberian peninsula features spectacular views of white houses, the sea, and the capricious forms of the mountainous terrain.  Walk around the town center, relax at the waterfront, and enjoy the cuisine of a traditional fishing village. Just a mile from Cadaqués is Portlligat, the last stop on your itinerary. In 1930, Dalí made his home in this tiny, charming cove, building his house from a group of fishermen's huts. It has since been converted into the House Museum as it is the site where the painter created his most important works. Take an intimate tour through the rooms where he lived with his beloved wife and muse, Gala.

What people are saying about Girona

First, thank you Mateo for an incredible day. Mateo picked us up at our hotel at 8:15. We added two more groups of English speakers for a total of 8 which was very comfortable in Mateo’s van, and proceeded to Girona. For Game of Thrones fans, two major scenes were filmed here and it’s easy to see why. So incredibly beautiful. Truly, I thought this would be the highlight of the trip but then we went to Pals. I’ve never seen such a picture perfect beautiful medieval town. From there we ended in the cliff side town of Palamos with its postcard worthy white cliff hanging houses before returning to Barcelona precisely at 5:30. Mateo was a wealth of information not only on the history of the areas we visited, but also Spain and Catalonia life and culture. I would recommend this trip without hesitation.

Our family spent a week in Barcelona and our day with Manu was by far the highlight. He took us out of Barcelona to a variety of amazing places we never would have seen otherwise. He had a lot of great recommendations for food, coffee.. and highly recommend the Catalan specialty doughnut that Manu pointed out - delicious. Manu was not only extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of the places we were visiting, he was also very personable and friendly and went out of his way to make everyone happy and comfortable. Thanks so much again Manu.. Kia Ora from your favourite New Zealand family!

Daniel was excellent! Thanks so much. Nice to be picked up from the hotel. Very informative and beautiful trip through the countryside. Gerona was a quiet and lovely surprise. Must return to Costa Brava and stay…
