Full description
Naturally playful and inquisitive, dolphins are some of the most delightful creatures in the world, and nothing quite compares to seeing them in the wild. Gibraltar is home to no fewer than 3 species of dolphin. They come to feed off the abundant supply of sardines, mackerel and flying fish that swim in the waters of Gibraltar’s bay. On this excursion you will be in an uncrowded and friendly environment, on board the catamaran “Dolphin Adventurer.” You will get live commentary and the service of expert guides who will explain everything that you see. Each tour takes in breathtaking views of both the African and European coastline, as well as the legendary Pillars of Hercules. But it is the dolphins that are the main event and they are sighted on 99 per cent of the tours. Often you will witness pods of between 40 and 500 dolphins. Watch common, striped and bottlenose dolphins swim to the boat and play. They sometimes put on a spectacular display of leaps and splashes right at your feet. It truly is a magical experience. Tours depart four times each afternoon from Marina Bay, where you can relax and soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere both before and after your trip.

The boat trip was very enjoyable and dolphins were seen, sometimes very close to the boat. Crew members were on hand to give relevant information. My mother is a wheelchair user and we were able to wheel her onto the pontoon and leave the chair there until we disembarked. She had to get on and off the boat on foot, using some steps, but crew members helped her with this.

We were blessed with a nice day and the bay was relatively calm. Good information to find the leaving point. Crew were very friendly and informative and there was plenty of space on board. The trip itself was very good. Lots of dolphins in the bay and the boat got very close. The crew member I spoke to was very knowledgeable and we had a good discussion on the local wildlife and how the bay is managed. An added bonus for us was seeing the Rock from a different perspective. You could see all the building work taking place which in our view is spoiling the view of the rock.

We booked the 2:30pm Dolphin Watch in August 2022 and the whole process with booking through get your guide was very easy and all information was provided including tickets and instructions on where to meet the tour. The trip itself was amazing, we saw so many dolphins jumping and swimming around our boat, I couldn't believe how many we saw so quickly into the journey. The boat staff were exceptional and knew how to manoeuvre the boat to attract the dolphins up close. Would highly recommend!
