What people are saying about Ghent
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Ghent and Bruges. Excellent recommendations were made of things to do during our free time. Our guide, Josephine, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the two cities. Ghent was particularly lovely and not nearly so busy. I wish we had more time there. Bruges was beautiful and we had enough time to do a little boat tour (an extra 10€ charge) but worth doing. One word of caution, the Brussel City tours all leave precisely on time. If you are late the bus leaves. While this didn’t impact us on our tour an other participant was left behind. I feel that tour companies undertake a certain amount of responsibility to ensure all participants return safely.
Our guide Victoria gave us a beautiful rendition of history in the present. Although a day is really not enough time to spend in either country, Victoria fit as much as she could into the time we had. She took us to buildings, churches, town squares, market places giving us the background of what it meant to both the nobels and the common folk. She was really helpful with us getting around in our free time. I’d recommend taking the boat trip in Bruges which is an additional cost to see the city from its waterways. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. I always have a book with me and we were only on the bus for two hours maximum. A perfect day trip if you don’t have much time in Belgium.
Ghent is beautiful city with historical monuments for tourist. Oh, you've been all tourist spots?? Hum.. what about Naughty graffiti, Red blocks, Pity statues, Man pointing over the sea, and Luxurious Thai restaurant ?? There are lots of hidden places how Ghent has been built through the history. If you don't want to miss all those, you just need to ask true Ghent man, Christophe. All that Ghent from old & up to date, he will let you find the places with hidden gems. Enjoy riding with the real Ghent man Christophe!
We booked this tour as a private tour and didn't regret it. The tour guide picked us up at our hotel on time, was really friendly and accommodated to our requests. The tour was just the right amount of history for my wife and I, as we generally prefer more insight into present day culture than a place's lenghty history. It was a good pace and we had the opportunity to stop a couple of times to take certain sites in, so it wasn't a tour where you were constantly on the move.
The Tour was great, of course with the beauty of Ghent and Brugge. Ghent not so much as there isn't much to see and do. Brugge is beautiful and I must add the Boat ride is a must. There are a lot of chariots so not so great if there are a lot of people. We had an amazing Guide who kept us entertained throughout. Just that you don't get much time to do your own stuff. 1 hour at each place.
