Full description

Ride back in time on horseback to July of 1863 in the Gettysburg Battlefield. Uncover important details about and insights into the war, soldiers, and local residents terrified of the death and destruction happening around them.

Get ready to be immersed in history as you ride along, learning the intricacies of the greatest Civil War battle. See, feel and experience Gettysburg using an authentic Civil War mode of transportation—a horse—and explore many areas of Gettysburg National Military Park.

Ride behind the Virginia Monument (the area where General Robert E. Lee waited for his returning troops after Pickett's Charge). Follow the path to the historic Spangler Farm and enjoy a panoramic view of the Peach Orchard and Little Round Top off in the distance.

Cross the Emmittsburg Road onto the Union side of the battle and view the Trostle Farm, including the cannonball hole in the barn.

You'll find that it's only at the end of the tour that you'll fully appreciate the terrain as many unknown details of the Civil War will have just been revealed to you.

Easy beautiful 2 hr ride that brings you to many off the beaten paths around the battlefield. Pleasantly surprised at the microphone set- up- each rider had a receiver and headphones so you could hear everything the guide said clearly. I had received no information about when to arrive and it was obvious that 15 min wasn't enough. Also not included was that we could have brought water bottles as there is a pouch off the saddle to hold them and your camera/ phone if desired. Be prepared as 2 hrs in the saddle when you're not used to it is a bit uncomfortable but well worth the trip!

The guide was very knowledgeable and talked the entire time about the battle. He was humorous too! The pace was perfect! My mother who had only been on a horse maybe twice in her whole life was very much at ease on the gentle horse. We really enjoyed the two hour tour!

We had a great time on the horseback tour and would highly recommend this tour. The staff that provided the horses was friendly and well organized. They gave a great explanation of how to handle the horse. So even if you aren't an experienced rider, you will have a great time. The water bottle holders on the saddle was a great touch especially with our August ride. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, clear and easy to understand.
