It was lovely to be out on the beautiful Ligurian Sea. An hour or so was plenty in Portofino, as we are not interested in shops. A wonderful day and good value!

We liked the Santa Margherita and Portofino area so much that we went there from Genoa both by boat and by train. As we travelled in the high tourism season, the advantage of taking the boat was its convenience, punctuality, and efficiency. The views of the coastline and the sea were spectacular. The only blip we had about the whole experience was that the short stay, lasting 70 minutes, in Portofino, only gave us enough time for a short stroll around the port and a very light lunch.
