What people are saying about Genoa

Excellent English speaking guide proceeded many interesting facts

Geneo or the vertical city as our guide described it. She spoke excellent English and was very enthusiastic in explaining the importance of Genoa as a Roman port and trading centre and the golden age of the Middle Ages. Via Garibaldi the residential street of palaces of the most powerful families at that time - the Rolli palaces now a designated UNESCO world Heritage Sites. It was fascinating to hear about the Crusades bringing back the relics of St John the Baptist in the 1100’s now kept in the cathedral San Lorenzo. Birthplace of Columbus and traces of his house. We learned about the origins of the first bank Banco do S Giorgio, it’s prison history and Marco Polo’s imprisonment. We visited the medieval city, historical centre, city gates and hidden squares of interest. All in all a very enjoyable explanation of the historical town

A great tour, great value and good company

Hi there, I found the tour excellent, and thanks for waiting for us at the beginning. It was a great way to see Genoa but it's up to you to go back in more detail to explore further. We did this with the galleries that we got free tickets for on Via Garibaldi. It is a beautiful city and this is a great way of finding out, and deciding which places you want to see in more detail. Like any walking tour always check the end of the tour and directions from there back to the metro. Also, the tour might have multiple languages so respect this, you can always take some shots or google the sites while you're waiting. For 14 euro, you can't go wrong!

A well informed tour given with charm of a wonderful city

We were lucky to be the only 2 clients on this tour. We asked at the start if there were any areas in the old city still reflecting Jewish heritage, but as far as our guide knew there were none. I recommend our guide checks Wikopedia, Italy as there is reference to some specific sites of Jewish interest in Genova

Good way to get a basic understanding of Genoa

We went into the tourist center to get warm and found we needed to "check-in" inside. While we did have to wait for the guide to do the seconded language, it was good to have the extra time to take in what we were seeing. We like Genoa very much and will return in the future.

Knowledgeable guide, but sometimes difficult to hear.

Excellent familiarization tour, didn't like it being for both Italian and English. Also, make it a professional tour and give guides a microphone and provide earpieces so people can hear what's being said. The value of the tour is easily worth another $5 to $10.
