Full description

Visit the site of the first Winter Olympics. In Chamonix, experience majestic scenery on a drive through the Arve Valley and from the 12,605-foot viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain. This day tour begins in Geneva with a drive across the French border through the glacier-fed Arve Valley. At Chamonix, marvel at the splendid backdrop of the massive peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges. You’ll take the cable car up to Aiguille du Midi, which was the world’s highest cable car ride when it was launched in 1955. Enjoy breathtaking panoramas of this Alpine wonderland, with views into France, Switzerland, and Italy. Lunch will be at your leisure. You will also have the chance to ride the astonishing Montenvers rack railway to the Mer de Glace glacier. The journey on this electric train covers 3 miles of beautiful mountainous scenery before arriving at the longest glacier in France. Spend the day as you please. Wander by foot to discover the town’s many delights, such as Parc Loisir, Musée Alpin, Lac Gaillands or Atelier Les Racines.

Chamonix is the world capital for outdoor activities: mountaineering, alpinism, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, paragliding, trail running, and skiing.

This is definitely a good trip that's well worth doing. The Swiss Tours were not very organised when we arrived at Chamonix and the group was divided with many individuals not knowing what to do/where to go. We were somehow running late so the second leg of the day (the train to Mer de Glace) wasn't very nice. We arrived at the last minute and did not have the time to walk down and back up in time for the last train, so this was a trip wasted. Unless you choose to do this first, don't bother paying for it in the high season as you are unlikely to make it fully. No toilets in the bus in hight season, so bear that in mind. Nevertheless, we had an amazing experience and I would recommend it.

It was a wonderful experience, especially getting to where the Glacier is located, unfortunately due to climate change the glacier is melting, it is very beautiful to see the landscapes of the Swiss and French Alps, a fabulous experience, I would like to return one day if I were possible

My dad and I did this tour and it was amazing! The guide was so great, super interesting and knowledgeable. He even took the time to tell us a few stories and answer all our questions. Everything went super smoothly and it was absolutely beautiful. We paid for both the cable car and the mountain train, I highly recommend doing both and visiting the ice glacier as well. Although the tour can seem quite expensive in comparison to others, it is well worth the money.
