Berlin: Entrance to Gemäldegalerie Art Museum

3. Berlin: Entrance to Gemäldegalerie Art Museum

Visit the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin, one of the world's most important collections of European painting from the 13th to the 18th century. Admire masterpieces from all periods of art history, including paintings by Jan van Eyck, Pieter Bruegel, Albrecht Dürer, Raphael, Titian and Peter Paul Rubens. Study mainly German and Italian paintings from the 13th to the 16th, and the Dutch paintings from the 15th to the 17th century. Admire the Gemäldegalerie's interesting new building in an austere Prussian style, and stroll through the simple structure, with its rooms grouped around a bright foyer. From the large Wandelhalle, a place of peace and reflection with a fountain installation by Walter De Maria, you will always be able to return back to the exhibition rooms.

The picture gallery collects numerous masterpieces of Flemish and Italian art between the fifteenth and twelfth centuries. For the former, we really liked some paintings by Van der Heyden and Van der Goes, an amazing painting by Bosch (San Giovanni a Patmos), some paintings by Rembrandt (of him, there is a collection among the largest to the world) and two paintings by Veermer. With regard to Italian art, above all, we like to mention some paintings by Raphael and Botticelli, but also one, magnificent, by Beato Angelico

The 2 hour drive was perfect for us, very informative, the bus driver masters her job, ... And she took several photos of us 4 friends in front of the bus. The tip in the slightly longer break for a short snack break was exactly right. There was also a lot of news for both of us Berliners. We can really recommend this. I have one more tip to extend the route: just drive from Alex to United Nations Square, past the "Kosmos", because the former Stalinallee is a monumental street with a lot of history.

I went straight up the audio guide centre where the lady gave me a headset and directed me to the garderobe and lockers (you use 1 euro to use a locker, but you get it back). Then you just head straight to the gallery and have your voucher scanned at the door. No queuing! Dont trust google for closing time... and also grab a map! You will need it.

Just walk straight into the museum! No waiting in any queue

This was so easy! With the GYG voucher I didn't have to get in any queue for a ticket and just walked straight up to the entrance and they scanned my voucher and I walked in. Very relaxing and amazing musuem. Would highly recommend.

good-on / good-off

The tour was informative and interesting. Only the bus with live commentary was not nice, there was little information but a lot of stupid talk.
