Overview
Take a tour of the Polish port city of Gdansk, and learn about its history and struggles through the decades. Starting at Westerplatte, where WWII began, visit this beautiful city's most important landmarks in its long struggle for freedom and justice.
What to Expect
Discover the fascinating past of Gdansk on this tour through its turbulent history. Learn about its ongoing struggles since the Second World War, and its long fight for freedom and justice throughout the 20th century.

Our tour begins with a transfer to Westerplatte Peninsula, an area guarding an entrance to the Gdansk harbour, and the place where the WWII began. At the time, the Polish Military Transit Depot was fighting against an enemy 13 times its size. From there, we will continue to the Gdansk Shipyard, the birthplace of Solidarity movement.

Stop by the Monument to Fallen Ship Workers (a homage to dockyard workers who died in December 1970) and a famous gate to the shipyard.

Then, we'll visit to the exposition "Roads to Freedom", dedicated to the local struggle for freedom and justice, and the birthplace of the first Independent Trade Union "Solidarity", represented by Lech Walesa. Walesa would later be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and became Poland's second president in 1990.
