Due to very bad weather conditions we couldn't climb Pico Ruivo, but the guide suggested an alternative trail along the coast. It was a great experience! Beautiful and diverse route, very interesting stories told by the guides (there were two small groups). If you are interested in Madeira's nature, history and culture you should definitely say yes to this trip. I really hope I will come back and join the guys again to climb the mountains.

A great day hiking across the 2 tallest peaks in Madeira. Our guide Sergio was extremely knowledgable and experienced in ensuring everyones safety in making everyone aware of the more technical stages of the hike. Really enjoyable, well organised and some amazing views. Expect changes in weather conditions, which can happen pretty quickly up there. We had regular breaks to refuel, and in total the hike was around 10.5km. Definitely one of the highlights of Madeira.

This hike was amazing and definitely one of the highlights of my trip. The views are fantastic, we were lucky to get a clear day but was a bit hot hiking in the Madeira sun in the later part of the walk. The first part of the hike is not too bad, mostly down and flat sections with some steps. The second half of the walk is the most challenging and you do have to have a relatively good level of fitness for this section. There are metal steps going up and then a lot of other steps during the rest of the walk. It is challenging but absolutely worth it! If your looking at this hike then book it!
