This tour of the East side of Madeira island is designed to show guests how truly magical it is. Come and be awed by its spectacular beauty. To begin the day, pick-up is from the hotel at 8:00 to 9:00. The first stop will be at a viewpoint above Funchal. Continue to Camacha, famous for its beautiful wicker works, and stop to have a look around and then take a scenic drive up to Poiso where the start of the Laurissilva forest can be found. After this, make your way to the majestic views of Pico do Arieiro. Pico do Arieiro is the third highest peak on the island, standing 1818 meters. Next is what some consider to be the most beautiful spot on the island, Ribeiro Frio. Here you will visit a trout farm and do a levada walk to the Balcões. Following the walk, make your way to Santana to see its famous A-framed cottages and then continue along the northern coastal road to Faial. Here, stop for lunch at a famous restaurant on the island called Grutas do Faial, which means the caves of Faial. A delicious lunch is served along with a very good locally made table wine. After lunch carry on to the eastern part of the island, to the famous viewpoint of Pico do Facho. From here you will have incredible views of Ponta de São Lourenco, Machico and the airport. A great day out

A full day out exploring the mountains and the eastern side of Madeira. Our guide who also doubled up as our driver was friendly & very knowledgeable and we stopped at many fascinating places, which would have been very difficult to access on your own. The Levada walk was fun, although stout walking shoes are recommended on wet days and the the three course lunch was superb. Good value for money.

Santana to short visit, witch is the picture above, very sad

Waking up early to go around all the hotel,, waste of time 4 passengers as to many hotels to drive to,, lucky no passengers wanted to do the toboggan,,, cannot believe if 1 wanted to do it,, we would all have had to wait,, the time 4 the walk is to long as we have less time in SANTANA, much interesting. Plus it is the picture above,,, the lunch was inside, what a shame we could have lunch on the terrasse ?? In the fresh air?? starter was a soup, In summer time is that a joke?? The salad came after with the main dish,,, sad we did not get a local meal, typically from Madeira,,,,

Stunning scenery!

After initial concerns because the driver said the tour was going to be slightly different to what we had booked (we didn't go to Camacha or do a Levada walk), we had a fabulous day! The scenery was stunning and we were lucky enough to have clear skies for all the views. The air conditioning seemed to be opening the windows though, so it was sometimes hard to hear the driver as he had no headset to talk through the speaker (or if he did, he didn't use them) He was friendly enough though and gave some reasonable commentary, but not as much as he could have done. The 3 course meal in the cave was very nice - there is no choice of starter or dessert (veg soup and passion fruit dessert) but you do have a choice of main. We were lucky enough to be in a small group of 6 people with very friendly banter. Definitely take a light coat for the higher points which were extremely windy and be aware that the weather is very changeable.
