Full description

This Jeep tour will show you Madeira’s third-highest peak, which sits at 1,818 meters. You'll also discover Santo da Serra, renowned for its famous farms and cider drink which you will have the opportunity to taste. You can also take the opportunity to enjoy a short levada walk in the mountain, which will last about 20 to 30 minutes. Once having concluded your walk, you'll proceed onward to the Portela viewpoint. You'll stop by the Portela viewpoint, overlooking Porto da Cruz in the north of the Island, where you will go off-road in the middle of the Laurissilva Forest to the town of Machico. Machico was the first place found when they discovered Madeira Island, and once you are done discovering its features, you will return to your hotel.

Antonio was a great driver and guide. He was able to tell us an incredible amount of interesting things about the sights on the tour, but also a lot of things worth knowing in general. It was fun with him. The weather wasn't ideal with very poor visibility at the top of the mountain, but Antonio still made it a very successful trip with many highlights.

Our tour was organised by Discovery Island Madeira. Unfortunately I don't remember the guide's name but he was brilliant (we went at 9.00am on Saturday 9th October so hopefully you can find out who it was). We were given loads of information about the places we visited as well as other interesting information about the island. The guide went out of his way to ensure we had a good time.

It goes up over hill and dale in a lobster-like vehicle, which is very simple ... like the soldiers. Very limited space for 6 adults and you sit across the direction of travel. The guide is friendly and tells a lot about buildings, etc. Unfortunately, nothing much about nature. Had very bad weather so long sightseeing was avoided.
