Enjoy a superb walk along the Levado do Norte on this 2-hour easy-going hiking tour in Madeira. Admire the beautiful landscapes of the cultivated terraces, lovely rural houses, charming gardens, green fields, and eucalyptus plants.
What to Expect
The Levada do Norte is one of the largest and most important levadas (irrigation channels) of the island of Madeira, running through much of the region. This magnificent stretch of the Levada do Norte begins just below the well-known Cabo Girão, leading hikers to the area of Boa Morte in Ribeira Brava. This 2-hour tour takes you on a very pleasant and easy trail that can be done all year around as it is located in the southern part of the island, where the climate is milder.
Along the way, you can enjoy the fantastic views of the parishes of Câmara de Lobos and Campanário. You can also admire the green fields, the carefully worked plantations, and as set of houses and buildings that form the villages. Occasionally, you may pass some local people of the area handling their land or just taking a walk.
