I can recommend this hike to everyone - from beginners to professionals. The paths are well developed, you walk a lot horizontally. So suitable for us as beginners. The guide was world class - charming, friendly, interested in us and involved everyone, regardless of their origin and language skills. He was also able to tell us a lot about everything we saw and everything else we wanted to know about Madeira. We actually hiked around 3.5 to 4 hours (including two breaks), plus arrival and departure. On the way there we also stopped at a supermarket so that we could stock up on water etc. The running water is also very drinkable.
