Full description

You’ll begin your nature hike in the western part of the Island. Your mountain guide will take you on a route that passes through spectacular mountain scenery and offers views of coastal villages below. In addition to the luxuriant vegetation, you’ll have constant views of the ocean. This pleasant half-day walk is rated as easy. Enjoy views of the fishing Villages of Paul do Mar and the coastal town of Ponta do Pargo along the way. See Prazeres, a small village where relaxation is an art form! Your walk ends at Ponta do Pargo, a charming town located on Madeira’s western coast. It’s known for its strategically located lighthouse, stunning cliffs that descend to the sea, and its apple festival.

Het was een prachtige wandeling met mooie vergezichten en mooie bloemen/planten onderweg. Hier gaf de gids ook veel aandacht aan om hier van alles over te vertellen. Interessante informatie ook over Madeira zelf, de geschiedenis. En de route was makkelijk om te lopen. Twee leuke koffietentjes onderweg. Af en toe wat smalle stukjes om over heen te lopen met de diepte naast je. Maar zelfs als je hoogtevrees hebt dan is het nog steeds wel goed te doen. Dus al met al werkelijk een fantastische dag. De gids had overigens een fijn gevoel voor humor.

A simple but beautiful hike along the Levada of Prazeres. The route goes through gardens and agricultural land. The guide took enough time to explain the use and function of levadas. Because of our mixed-language group, he did this very well in both English and German. He also made sure to stop for short photos. All in all, a great hike that is particularly recommended as an introductory tour to the various hiking trails of Madeira, before attempting the more challenging routes.
