You will quickly get to know the specialties of Madeira. Comes to nice places / restaurants where you otherwise would not come so quickly. Our guide Roberto has Dutch roots and we had Dutch company, so he did his best to show us around the NL. Which was great fun. We were full at the end of the tour. Everything was well organized. When we arrived, a table was already reserved. A must for young and old.

This 3-4 hour walking food and drink tour is a brilliant way to see Funchal and sample the local food and drinks. We saw parts of the city we otherwise wouldn’t, as our hotel is quite far from the city centre. We tried all kinds of cuisine that we’ll definitely be eating more of on our trip, and the number of stops compared to other tours meant we were full until a late dinner later. Our guide Roberto was exceptional. We had a group of 8 which was a really nice number, and the length of the tour meant we had time to chat and get to know each other a little.

We absolutely loved this tour! It was the first thing we did after we arrived in Funchal. It was a wonderful way to get our bearings, see the city like a local, and try the typical cuisine of the region. We ended up purchasing Madeira wine from Blandy’s, artisan chocolates from Uau Caucau, and cookies from S. Antonio’s by the end of our trip to take home as souvenirs. Cheers to our guide, Roberto, and our fellow travelers for a lovely mid-day tour!
