What to Expect
Take a guided tour of one of the most important buildings on the island of Madeira. The Jeuistas College was built out of the island's stone with the first plan of the building sent to Rome in 1575 to be reviewed and authorized by the authorities of the Society of Jesus.

In this great building, a national monument, visitors may behold unique pieces of Baroque and Mannerist art. The Jesuits' College has seen religious, military, and civilian institutional activity. The building is an architectural mixture resulting from reforms made by each occupant with various details of interest relating to the national and international episodes of its history.

Beyond the architecture, the College features an impressive collection of furniture and art, most of which originated from Quinta do Monte where Charles of Habsburg, the last emperor of Austria, lived and died.
