Full description
Following a pickup from your accommodation in Funchal, head to the starting point of this this brisk running tour in Poiso (1,400 meters). Start the trail through magnificent pine trees and forests with a short flat section to warm up before heading down to the Levada do Furado in Ribeiro Frio (900m).
You’ll run for around 6km on flat ground before returning back to the starting point. Along the way, take in the gorgeous mountainous landscape and stop by the scenic viewpoint at Balcões.
The track is a loop of 14km with an elevation of about 500m. The terrain is mainly made of dirt that sometimes can be muddy, as well as rocks and roots.
