What to Expect
Madeira is an ecological paradise, abundant with rare bird species and a stunning natural landscape. Explore the wild areas of Madeira and Macronesia, and learn about its diverse birdlife led by a professional nature guide.
The tour begins early in the morning and takes place primarily on the west and the north sides of the island. Begin by visiting the habitats of the Trocaz pigeon, the Madeira Firecrest, and the rare Regulus Madeirensis, a species which is found exclusively on Madeira.
Using telescopes and field guides, look out for chaffinches, spectacled warblers, and canaries. Your guide will explain to you about the different species and their habitats as you walk. You will be able to see other species like the Berthelot´s Pipit, and the Anthus berthelotii madeirensis. Whilst you look out for birds, enjoy the impressive landscape surrounding you.
This tour is to some extent customizable, and can be tailor made for groups. With pick-up and drop-off from your hotel, relax and enjoy a day devoted to the curious life of Madeira’s birds.
