Chizuko took us to Nanzoin temple and Dazaifu. She navigated the public transportation which allowed us to see both sites in one day. She also brought us to the Fukuoka museum at Daizaifu. While we didn’t go view the museum we got to see a spectacular building and gardens. We would never have seen that on our own.. it was an action packed day. My son 25 and I are very active. You need to have good stamina and balance to see both sites.

Full description

Discover Fukuoka on a fully customizable private tour. This dynamic city is home to many historical temples and is famous for its unique food culture. Choose what you would like to experience, what time you would like to start your tour, and the local partner will arrange a tour to suit you.

Example 6-hour Itinerary:

Meet your guide at your hotel in Fukuoka and first head to Ohori Park and Fukuoka Castle Ruins. Take a stroll through the large park and visit the Japanese-style garden at the south end of the park.

Continue to Fukuoka Tower where you can admire fantastic views of the ocean and Hakata. Enjoy lunch at Ramen Stadium where you browse eight famous stalls that serve different styles of ramen from across Japan.

Take a short ride via public transportation and visit the Dazaifu Tenman-gū shrine. Walk through the grounds surrounded by the lush forests and see the precious historical landmarks. Along the path to the shrine which is lined with shops from the Dazaifu Station area, sample famous brands of wagashi confections such as Umegaemochi.
