Full description
This daytrip takes in all the points of interest of the Freeport city centre before continuing on to the sights in Lucaya and the East End of Grand Bahama. The first stop is our open-air Farmer's Market where you can sip fresh coconut water right out of its shell, find interesting local made arts and crafts to take home with you and/or sample native food dishes of your choice such as conch salad and conch fritters. Then, the next stop is Port Lucaya Marketplace where you can pick up local art work, find unique Bahamian souvenirs and other tasty goodies such as local made chocolates flavored with native fruit. At this stop there are a number of restaurants and bars that feature native dishes if you are a foodie and enjoy sampling local typical dishes. Then, tour the public park Taino Beach, Smith's point - Home of the Famous Fish Fry, Sanctuary Bay - Home of the Unexso Dolphins, as well as Millionaire's Row, and Mather Town as you learn about everything Bahamian - the customs, history, culture, native food and drink, traditions and all there is to know about The Bahamas. Then you have the option to walk the Garden of the Groves (admission not included), before continuing on to the Lucayan National Park in the East End of Grand Bahama. At the Lucayan National Park, you will tour two caves; Ben's Cave and Burial Mound, before crossing the street to Gold Rock Beach. At Gold Rock Beach, you will have a Bahamian picnic lunch with homemade Bahamian bread and favorite native baked goodies. After lunch, you have ample time for swimming, walking the beach, shell collecting and/or sun-bathing, before continuing further east to High Rock, home of the famous Lighthouse Chapel. There you can enjoy an ice cold tropical drink at the famous Bishop's on the beach. At Bishop's enjoy walking the beach, collecting shells, swimming again at another beautiful idyllic beach or enjoy your first tropical cocktail of the day before departing back to the ship and/or hotel. The drive along the east coast takes in all the local settlements with views to their beautiful beaches right in front of the entrance to their homes. The East is all about magnificent beaches with powder white sand that stretch for miles and miles and miles. There is nothing on them except the birds, the trees and brilliant turquoise crystal clear waters for your tranquility and enjoyment. This daytrip is for all those persons who love nature and exploring beautiful beaches for total rest and relaxation. Be sure to bring along extra cash as most of the local vendors being small mom and pop type operations only accept cash. You will need cash for your personal shopping and other incidentals of the day. Do not forget to bring your swimsuits, towels, sunscreen and most of all Your Camera! You may want to bring along a change of clothing to slip into after swimming for the day before returning back to the ship or hotel/resort. "No Crowds, No Buses, No Time Schedule but Yours!"
