Day Trip to Preveli & Damnoni Beach & Rethymno City Tour

1. Day Trip to Preveli & Damnoni Beach & Rethymno City Tour

Our day begins in the morning with your pick up from your hotel. After our coach ride we arrive at the beautiful Damnoni beach, where our boat is waiting for us to take us on a 30-minute boat ride to our first stop of the day, the magnificent beach of Preveli. As we approach our destination, you will be amazed by the unique landscape surrounding us that consists of vertical cliffs of the gorge, the beautiful palm-tree forest and the crystal clear water of the beach. The Grand River ( Megalos Potamos ) that runs through the Kourtaliotiko Gorge and then empties into the sea, makes the water cool and refreshing, ideal for an amazing swim break. On the banks of the river there is a large colony of Theophrastus palm trees which give the region a sense of a tropical landscape. Walk along the sandy beach, under the shade of the palm trees and experience the exotic side of Crete. We then head back to Damnoni beach, a long bay with beautiful turquoise waters where you can continue your swim and have a delicious meal in one of the traditional restaurants located there. Our last stop of the day is the lovely city of Rethymno. Mostly known for its Venetian fortress, called Fortezza, Rethymno is considered to be a jewel of the island. Whether you choose to scroll around the narrow streets or have a coffee next to its beautiful Venetian port, you will have an unforgettable experience!

Souda Bay: Marathi, Cape Drepano and Caves Boat Cruise

4. Souda Bay: Marathi, Cape Drepano and Caves Boat Cruise

Cruise around the Souda Bay on a relaxing boat trip. Admire the views of the islets of Souda and Leon, the Venetian fortress, and the lighthouse at Cape Drepano. Stop at Marathi Beach for a swim and enjoy a delicious meal on board. Depart from the main port of Souda and travel in the deep blue waters of the bay. Listen to pleasant music as the boat passes by the islet of Souda, which stands like a guardian at the entrance of the harbor. On the islet of Souda, find Fortezza, a Venetian fortress built in 1571 AD. Before the fortress was built, it was the only castle in the area, protecting for centuries the entrance to the port of Souda and the city of Chania. Travel to the northwest side of the bay and see the steep slopes of the Akrotiri peninsula, which in some places form wonderful beaches, such as the beach at Marathi, where the ship will dock after a 45-minute trip. The sandy beach at Marathi, combined with its shallow waters and the protection from the winds due to its location, is ideal for families and children. Choose whether to stay on board to relax, swim nearby and have lunch or disembark and swim at Marathi beach, returning later to the boat for lunch. Enjoy a delicious meal consisting of a main course (also suitable for vegetarians), an individual salad, and bottled water from the on-board self-service bar. Departing from Marathi, the boat passes close to the hidden area of Pervolitsa, where you will have the opportunity to admire the wild goats, which run with miraculous balance on the rocks, like acrobats. Continue your journey on the southeastern side of the bay and approach Cape Drepano. If the weather conditions are favorable, approach the stone lighthouse at Cape Drapano. This lighthouse is considered to be one of the oldest in Crete. At Cape Drepano, the amazing Cave of Elephants was discovered in 1999. It was so named after the elephant bones found inside. In its warm waters, the Mediterranean monk seal Monachus monachus shelters. The cave was recognized as one of the most important in Greece. The deep blue color of the waters creates a landscape of incredible beauty. Approaching the coast, see sea caves, which you will approach to enjoy the view and witness once again the “wonders of nature”. Make another stop near the shore of one of the leeward beaches of the area (depending on the weather) and anchor for a swim in its blue waters. On the way back, admire the mountains of the Apokoronas peninsula that tower over the bay and offer breathtaking views. At the top of one of these mountains, observe the ancient city of Aptera, which was one of the most important city-states of western Crete in ancient times. On the hill Kamami, see the historic Turkish Izzeddin Fortress, built in 1870, named after the eldest son of a Sultan. The fortress has been designated a cultural heritage monument. Full of beautiful images and excited by this fascinating sea adventure, return to the port of Souda at around 15:45.

It was a really nice tour, you learned a lot on the way to the beautiful beach (we had a stop at a gas station with a bakery and back in the gorge), had two great boat trips (unfortunately just a bit narrow, too many people) and at the end some more time in the city. There was enough time on the Preveli beach to see everything, but unfortunately there was a little time in Rethymno. But that was okay because we were really exhausted from the day

A great tour of the city. You see small streets that you would otherwise never visit and it's even more fun with the Segway. There was even a birthday surprise during the drinks break! Many thanks to the whole team! A great event, highly recommended!

Very pleasant walk which allows you to see most of the city, with simple and effective explanations. And with an extremely kind guide (Dimitri you will be a good president 😉). Many thanks for this activity.

Nice discovery of Rethymnon! Walk to the castle and in the old town Without this visit we would have missed the real treasures of the town I highly recommend

Interesting experience. Worth the money. Thank you for including the refreshments.
