Full-Day Dolphin Watching Tour from Lisbon

Full-Day Dolphin Watching Tour from Lisbon

This full-day tour begins as you head south from Lisbon to Setúbal, a picturesque region best known for its fishing port. In Setúbal, board a fully restored salt galleon, or a modern catamaran (depending on weather and sea conditions), for a relaxing and enjoyable cruise in the Sado Estuary, where you’ll learn about the resident bottlenose dolphins and hopefully be able to observe wild dolphins in their natural environment. The duration of the cruise takes about 2 to 3 hours. See the natural reserve of Arrábida, take in the stunning views, and learn about the area’s history and gastronomy. See the Arrábida Convent and discover some important historical sites before returning to the old city center of Setúbal. Before returning to Lisbon, stop at a few sights in the Arrabida Mountain range, from where you can marvel at the natural reserve and get a land view of all the region.

Sesimbra e Arrábida Natural Park: 1 Day Tour & Wine Tasting

Sesimbra e Arrábida Natural Park: 1 Day Tour & Wine Tasting

Leave Lisbon behind and go over the bridge "Ponte 25 de Abril", known as "The Golden Gate", so called after the fall of the fascist regime in 1974 about the freedom of the Portuguese people. You will glimpse from above the Tejo estuary which constitutes a protected natural reserve and is a nursery for several species of marine fish and water birds. At low tide, you also will be able to see the locals harvesting clams. Head south along the magnificent coastline and marvel at the beaches, landscapes, and vineyards of Costa Azul Promontory National Park, which includes Sesimbra e Arrábida Natural Park. Discover the deepest lagoons in Portugal until you reach the westernmost point of Vila de Sesimbra: Cabo Espichel. On this Portuguese promontory, the bravest will be able to glimpse the vertiginous and abysmal Lagosteiros Bay. Visit the picturesque fishing village of Sesimbra, located next to a sheltered bay, conquered by our king D. Afonso Henriques in 1165, and discover its Medieval Moorish Castle. It's time for a break and to relax. Take a walk along the sea or take a break at a local bakery and taste a good Portuguese coffee. Keep heading south to Serra da Arrábida natural park, a place of infinite beauty between the mountains and the sea. Prepare to be amazed by unparalleled landscapes and take incredible photos. The current fauna includes, among others, the fox, the wild boar, the Bonelli's eagle, and the royal swift. The park is a protected area, and certain places can only be accessed with special permission, but no worries, we have passage. Enjoy a delicious lunch by the sea and taste fresh local products. Enjoy a glass of wine and delight with a magnificent fresh grilled fish, such as a beautiful Robalo, caught in our seas or try the local “Choco Frito”, a Portuguese version of “Fish&Chips”. Take a walk along the beach and enjoy nature. In summer you may want to swim in our turquoise waters, but be prepared for a vigorous swim. It's time to continue our tour and to begin our wine tasting. Have a delicious Moscatel Wine inside a Castle and enjoy a unique view over the Sado River. Visit two local own-property wineries and taste several awarded wines. Stroll through the vineyards and visit the wine factory to see the wine-making process. Explore a small wine museum with artifacts dating back to the Roman era. Travelers love visiting this unrivaled wine-producing region, which boasts some of the best wine products in Europe. Visit a local tile crafts house and complement your wine-tasting experience with some of the best local pastries and indulge in mouth-watering regional sweets. It is now time to return to Lisbon, but not without first visiting the incredible Cristo Rei monument, which is one of the most emblematic symbols of the Lisbon region, and end your day with a fantastic sunset.

Unforgettable experience! Our guide Mónica was incredible. He knew all the places he took us very well and without ever rushing into anything, we really felt that we were very well received. For me, lunch was one of the highlights, the beach was beautiful! The fish was wonderful and we had time to walk on the sand after lunch, the moment was idyllic! We visited two vineyards, very different from each other, both with very good wine tastings. However, we prefer the more rustic and less commercial one. We were able to take a short walk among the vineyards and learn about the history of the family and the estate, which made the experience much more personal and special. We also visited a local market, full of life, which was not in the description, which I loved! And of course, we can't resist Alentejo cheeses. This tour undoubtedly exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it.

The best tour we took in Lisbon! Our guide was very calm and knowledgeable about the history and customs of the land and took us to places that, without a doubt, only one place would take us there. On the journey we stopped at a street cafe that had hand-painted tile walls inside, which surprised us. We also tried a sweet made from cream cheese, which was delicious. We were very impressed with the wine, we had already taken other tasting tours and this experience won out for its quality. During most of our route we were surrounded by mountains and sea and the landscapes are, in fact, unforgettable. We ate very well and visited places that were not on the itinerary, which was a pleasant surprise.

A memorable day, full of good mood! Our guide was always very helpful and friendly, well organized and always attentive to the group. All the places we visited were beautiful, the coast and beaches of Arrábida are stunning, but for me one of the highlights of the day were the visits to the wineries. We thought the wines were delicious and we had the opportunity to meet the owner and producer who ended up sharing with us many historical details about the farm and wine production, which made the visit very interesting. I have to highlight the beautiful roasted fish from Setúbal, it was an excellent lunch and the wine was always phenomenal. We loved our experience and will do it again!

First of all, a destination that deserves to be seen, very close to Lisbon. Then, our guides are very kind, generous with their explanations throughout the circuit and great company. In addition, the charm of this one-day adventure is with a fabulous, high-quality Volkswagen van. We are very comfortable there and have a very clear view of the landscapes passing before us. What added to the charm of the visit was that we were given a private tour. In this regard, it accommodates no more than five passengers. Me and my partner recommend everyone to book this great day trip. So, to our guides, thank you for this great experience. Passionate Quebec travelers!

When we arrived at the port in the morning it was so foggy that it wasn't clear at first whether we would be able to do the tour. Thank God the fog cleared in the next hour and we were able to go out on the water in a great catamaran and see dolphins. We were also allowed to go for a swim from the boat in the 20 degree cold water. In between, the guide improvised by taking us to the Setubal market hall, one of the 20 best fish markets in the world. It's an activity in nature and you always have to expect that nature won't cooperate the way you want.
