Malta Historical Tour: Valletta & The Three Cities

5. Malta Historical Tour: Valletta & The Three Cities

We kick off the tour at Malta’s capital city Valletta. Built in the 16th century on the order of Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valette, who gave it its name, the fortified Baroque city is a true gem packed with 25 churches, countless palaces and grand old town houses. It retains all of its charm through the daily hustle and bustle of a working city. Don’t miss the breathtakingly beautiful St John’s Co-Cathedral and the awe-inspiring view of Grand Harbour from Upper Barrakka Gardens. After exploring Valletta, we drive to the other side of the Grand Harbour to visit the ancient Three Cities of Birgu (Vittoriosa), Bormla (Cospicua) and Isla (Senglea). The St. Angelo Fortification, The Inquisitor’s Palace, and Il-Gardiola Gardens are the top three of the main attractions one can visit. The narrow medieval streets create the most amazing characteristic of these beautiful old cities. Pick up and Drop off from Hotel/Location is included.

First, the walking tour with Elena was fantastic. She has a passion for Valletta and Malta. Second, when one of the sites was having trouble getting their systems to read the pass, the manager, Mariella, asked to speak with them directly to clear up the misunderstanding. You get entry to tickets as part of this package, so you'll need to be purposeful how you spend your time. You could easily spend an entire day at many of these locations.

Insightful guide that provided a lot of advice on Valetta. Because it's low season, I was the only one on the excursion so it was shorter as it was one on one.

Wonderful - after just three visits, the card had paid for itself

The card was already waiting for us in our hotel room. :)
