The safari includes narrated transportation from the Sanibel/Fort Myers/Naples area to the four main ecosystems of the Everglades. First, take a nature walk through an ancient forest of towering cypresses. See where bald eagles nest and where mother gators seek shaded seclusion to raise their pups. Then take a relaxing 60-minute boat cruise. Your cruise navigates the shallow, mangrove-lined waters of the 10,000 Islands in Everglades National Park. Manatees, sea turtles, dolphins, osprey and a variety of other marine life thrive here. During the afternoon break you will enjoy an excellent lunch at a waterside restaurant in the heart of the Everglades. You will be offered alligator appetizers in addition to several delicious lunch entrees. Enjoy a wildlife drive in the Big Cypress National Preserve after lunch. Tour the sawgrass prairies of the Everglades back country. Alligators, turtles and birds abound in front of a backdrop that is reminiscent of the great plains of Africa. On the final stop of the day board a 60-minute airboat ride through the Alligator Flag marshes of the headwaters of the Everglades. Alligators, turtles and over 30 species of birds can be seen.
